May 8th 1965 the Yousuf Baksh, loaded with a cargo of Jute caught fire in the channel. She came in and was anchored off the Coastguard Station about a mile out, from here she was beached off Sandown Castle where the fire brigade were taken out to her, eventually putting the fire out.
Claire rescued a lifeboat with the crew onboard and the lifeboat was a prominant feature on his plots for many days.
