Carnival floats were made out of old fish box wire and fish box's and fixed to a pushchair. Thousands of flowers were made from crepe paper and glued to the frame work with copydex, dad spent hours putting these floats together in the old stables. Mother made all the costumes and most of the flowers, I have spent hours as a child sitting on the front room floor unwrapping rolled flowers, a tedious boring job, but Dad's finished product always commanded a first prize in Deal's old carnival, in the good old days when the fair was on the North Parade, and my favourite Galloping horses were at the top of Brewer Street. Dad supplied water to the fair when I was a child as steam was still being used, I have spent many hours feeding the music into the Gavioli organ on the Galloping horses,
