THE ICE CREAM PARLOURS
The Ice Cream Palour opposite the Royal Hotel was owned By the Divito Brothers; The rear Garage part of this property was used for the weigh in of fish when the boat competitions were held.
The Corner Parlour at the top of Broad Street was owned by Jean , these were a haunt for many of us:
Roger Divito has kindly sent these cartoons to me, do you remember those days?
The cartoons below were drawn by Jeremy Owen; a customer of Tony Divito, and were displayed, along with many others he drew, under the glass table tops in the ice cream parlour. They reflect some of the cliental at the time.
The two photo's here are of Betty Divito, second wife of Horace Divito, they both worked from the vans; Horace was stationed at the entrance to Dover Castle for many years. Pictures compliments of Roger Divito

The Photograph above was taken on 4th April 1986 in Well Lane St. Margarets Bay,it is a picture of my fish van, in the days when I used to supply many country villages with fresh fish, also poultry veg and fruit from dads farm. The photo has been kindly donated to me by St Margaret’s History Society, their site has a lovely array of old photo's and is well worth a visit.
